My favourite books

Image
These books are all five star books. I would award them more if I could.                                                                                                                   Graceling by Kristin Cashore This was a book I started not knowing what to expect and was blown away by the fiery and badass character that is Katsa and the wonderful, playful, and unique Po.       A Court of Mist and Fury  by Sarah J Maas I first fell in love with SJM's Throne of Glass series and I started A Court of Thorns and Roses partly for the love of her writing and because it is a re-telling of my favourite fairytale Beauty and the Beast. I highly enjoyed the first book. It was wonderful. So I started it hoping for something just as good and instead found one of my absolute favourite books I've ever read. I can read this over and over and over and never get tired of it. Feyre's journey from the ending of ACOTAR to the ending of this book is magnificent and

"Empire of Storms" by Sarah J Mass Review

Rating: ***** Wow. Yep did not see that ending coming at all! I cried or was very near crying many times through this book. Not always from sadness. The ending was from sadness...  And agony. Fantastic writing! I pretty much got everything I wanted from this book which is great! That last line! Okay I officially need book 6 like yesterday! (even though it's the end! ) Update Sept 8th, 2016 : Okay now that I have gotten some sleep and time to gather my thoughts on with the SPOILERY thoughts! <spoiler> Okay so I was really excited to see Elide's journey to Terrasen but as bad as it sounds when stuff with her and Lorcan came up in the story part of me really didn't care like in Queen of Shadow with Chaol and Nesryn... I am guilty of skim reading most of their scenes in about the middle of the book. I'm just not really sold on that pairing. But whatever it wasn't horrible. So I was so excited to see Aelin finally make it to Terrasen and claim he

Review of "Rosie Dunne"/ "Love, Rosie"/ "Where Rainbows End"

Wow, this was much different than I expected. I based my expectation purely on seeing the trailer for Love, Rosie. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really enjoyed reading this book because of it's unique letters format. I have not read anything like this since the Confessions of Georgia Nicholson  series and it was in journal/ diary enteries. And it was interesting to read a book that takes place in such a large timeline. The character growth of the protagonist Rosie was really well done.    ----Spoilers Ahead--- - -- --- ---- ----- ------ ------- -------- --------- ---------- --------- -------- ------- ------ ----- ---- --- -- - The epilogue was great and it kind of made me feel like I was Rosie reading all these letters from her life. The ending was good too, even though it was a little abrupt. I do wish the reader could know more about Alex and Rosie's future together... but my guess is that they stayed and lived at Buttercup

Review of "The Queen of the Tearling" by Erika Johansen

Based on several reviews I had read about this book I was not expecting to like it very much. But it was quite the opposite. I truly enjoyed how Ms. Johnansen wrote about the importance of books and literacy in society. As well as her mentions of popular books from our era. The use of magic was not overdone which kept the story from being too far-fetched. There were parts of this book that disturbed me a bit. I have never been a big fan of the use of profanity in literacy. But that was one of the few things I disliked about this book. It was a breath of fresh air to read about a female protagonist who had a realistic self-consciousness about herself and was not perfect and beautiful in appearance as a lot of these literary heroines seem to be in books of this same genre. There are no perfect characters in this story as well which I feel also supports the realism of this story.  ----Spoilers Ahead--- - -- --- ---- ----- ------ ------- -------- ---------

The Juliette Chronicles (Shatter Me, Destroy Me, Unravel Me, Fracture Me, Ignite Me) Review

This review contains SPOILERS... So... I have been completely swept away by these books. They are so beautiful. I was very hesitant to read these books. I have been reading A LOT of dystopian novels lately. (For the last two years.) And I was beginning to feel like perhaps I had read all the good ones. I also, and I am ashamed to admit this judged these books by the original cover of Shatter Me . I know, I know! "Never judge a book by it's cover." But in the past I have read books that had crappy covers, and the contents inside matched the outside. And I guess I also didn't want to be disappointed by another book that others had raved about. I just finished Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge before I picked up Shatter Me. And let's just say my hopes were "Shattered" (pun intended) by the aforementioned novel. But I will get into that later if I end up doing a review for Cruel Beauty.  But, my goodness am I ever so happy that I decided to give it
